
He said these premises could form a club to supervise and guide student activities, particularly in explosive experiments.
“For now, we believe students may use the internet or Youtube as their sources of information and this may lead to dangerous incidents, such as explosion, when their so-called experiment involves volatile substance,” he told Reporters after a talk at the National Planetarium here today.
Mohammed Faiz, who is also a Malaysia Airlines pilot, was commenting on the explosion in Kampung Padang Macang, Manir, Terengganu last Saturday, which left three Industrial Training Institute students injured.
The students, aged 19 to 20 were believed to have been experimenting on making a rocket and had filled an iron pipe with sulphur powder.
“I feel sorry for the students and their parents on what they had to go through, but that is what can happen if there is no guidance and supervision. They (students) will tend to get excited and might make a mistake,” he said.
